18 April 2011

A 36-year-old man is in Townsville Hospital tonight with several suspected broken bones after a crop duster aircraft crash in Bambaroo this afternoon.

Initial investigations suggest around 1.45pm the aircraft the man was piloting has clipped a tree at a property off the Bruce Highway.

The man appears to have attempted to perform an emergency landing, however, the plane flipped shortly after it hit the ground.

It is believed the man may have fractured his skull and leg as well as sustained serious facial injuries. He is currently in a critical condition.
