This year I worked as a cotton chipper on a farm outside Moree. I also worked as a contractor and sometimes hired the children of neighbouring farmers to chip the fields. I know of other contractors who hire children as young as eight. In January a friend and I went into a field that had been sprayed 24 hours before. We both came out in sores the size of fingernails on our arms, neck and face. My friend went to the Moree doctor and was told that the sores were school sores.
